Reading, Reading, Reading
Jacob participates in a school wide reading initiative called "AR". AR stands for Accelerated Reader. The program encourages kids to be good readers. Each book read has a point value, after a book is read a test is taken to evaluate comprehension. The test score then translates to your points earned in the program. For example, if a book is 6 points and you receive a 95% on the test, you earn 5.7 points. Jake's teacher assigns an AR reading goal for each quarter. Jacob's goal has been 15 points per quarter, but he took it a step forward and set a personal goal of 300 points for the year. Last week Jacob brought home his latest AR scores and he has already exceeded the 300 point goal he set for himself. We are so proud of him for working so hard. We can't wait to see how many points he ends the year with!
