Jacob wrote this for a school project. We are so proud of him - he really gets it, read this (the first stanza is from a poem by Walter De La Mare the rest is original).
Me
As long as I live
I shall always be
My Self---and no other
Just Me
Like a pie filling inside a crust
With a strong outer layer
And soft inner filling
The crust protecting the inner
But sometimes the feeling is too much
And the outer layer cracks and filling comes out
Like a melted piece of iron
Sometimes it will burn at touch
But will it mold itself to
A Tool or a Weapon
The decision lies with the maker
But whatever it becomes
it will be made with the skill of a master smith
Always just me
Until
The iron is formed
Or the crust falls apart
And these items are taken
By the master carpenter in the purple robe
Taken to his mansion remade for the better
the new model lasting forever
